Lakeview School Council is hosting a Dance and Bingo Night on Friday, February 23rd. The funds raised from this event will go towards purchasing much needed Chrome books for the school. Many of these units are either breaking down or there is simply not enough of them for the children to use in class.
We are looking for volunteers to help us prepare for this event as well as volunteers for the night of.
We will also have a bake sale that night in addition to selling our usual dance night refreshments – popcorn, hot dogs, drinks, etc. We are looking for parents to help with baking items for that night.
If you or anyone you know can help us out with either the planning, the night of the event or with the baking, please let us know as soon as you can. High school students are also welcome to come and volunteer for their community hours.
If you can volunteer, or for more information, please email email@example.com.
More details about the event to come!
Help us continue our tradition of providing holiday treats for our wonderful teachers and staff on the last week of school before the break. Any NUT-FREE food is welcome: baking, fruit, bagels & cream cheese, chips & salsa, popcorn, etc. Please look at the flyer here (PDF) to see which dates next week still need to be filled. If you can help, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know the date you will bring your treats. Please include a list of all ingredients.
We saw a huge turnout for our Scholastic Book Fair two weeks ago – thank you to everyone who made purchases. We sold so much that Lakeview will be awarded $2600 worth of books by Scholastic!
Thank you to all the great volunteers who helped make this event such a wonderful success. We hope that everyone found a book or two to share with your family. Happy reading!
Council would like to extend a big thank you to all our parent and high school students who stepped up and made our Welcome Family Dance a wonderful success. We could not have done it without you! We hope to see all of you again at our next event!
The Lakeview Family Welcome Dance is this Friday, October 13th, 5:30 to 7:30!
Council is looking for volunteers to come out and help make this yearly event a success. There are many volunteer opportunities available from set-up to take-down and during the event itself. Please sign up to volunteer here.
WE NEED COMMUNITY AND PARENT SUPPORT to make this event a success! If we do not have enough help, events may unfortunately be cancelled!
If you’d like more information, contact the Council Chair at email@example.com.
Have you been looking for a way to get involved in your child’s school?
Lakeview School Council enriches the lives of students through special events, extra-curricular activities, and funding for school sports and academic programs. School Council also provides a forum for parents to share their opinions and make recommendations known to the school administration.
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 6:45 in the school library.
We need people to help with the following roles:
The Treasurer ensures safekeeping of the School Council finances in accordance with the policies and procedures of the OCDSB and provides accounting thereof, as required, to the Board and the Council. The role of the Treasurer is to maintain a detailed record of all income and expenses along with accompanying receipts ad invoices; to check the accuracy and consistency of monthly bank statements; and to report monthly to School Council on fundraising and other revenues and expenditures. The Treasurer deposits all incoming cheques and signs all outgoing cheques. The Treasurer is a signing officer for the Council.
We have a Fundraising Lead but we are looking for more members to be part of a team to help generate and implement ideas on easy and fun ways to fundraise for our school.
Ottawa-Carleton Association of School Councils Representatives (OCASC)
The OCASC representatives represent School Council at OCASC meetings and raise issues on behalf of the School Council. They then report to School Council at each council meeting and keep School Council members up to date on pertinent issues. The OCASC meetings often feature a guest speaker who talks about issues affecting all schools in the Ottawa area, and allows the representatives from Lakeview to meet and interface with other schools in the area.
If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact the Council Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We need your help to make Friday’s “School’s (almost) Out Dance Jam” a success! We need help with set-up, ticket sales at the door, handing out snacks, clean-up, and more. Sign-up using our volunteer sheet, or email email@example.com.
