Volunteers needed for Pizza and Popcorn Days

In order to continue our Hot Lunches Program, we need volunteers who can give a little bit of their time a couple of times a month. This program raises funds for Lakeview School and gives parents a break from making lunches. Can you help?

Pizza Days

Volunteers are needed to distribute pizza on Wednesdays. Three to four people work together at the first lunch break to organize the slices for each classroom and hand them out. It takes about 30-45 minutes total (and extra slices go to volunteers!).

Grandparents are also welcome to volunteer!

The more volunteers we have, the less often each person has to come in. We hope to have a healthy list of volunteers to draw from. If you’d like to help, please contact the Pizza Coordinator at lakeviewpizzacoordinator@gmail.com.

Popcorn Days

Kernels Extraordinary PopcornWe are in need of a Popcorn Coordinator in order to have Popcorn Days this year. The Popcorn Coordinator organizes the Kernels popcorn bags for each class on popcorn days and orders more when it’s needed. Popcorn Days are every other Thursday. If you have any questions, please contact the Council Chair at chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

The 2019-2020 Council Executive

Thank you to everyone who came to the first School Council meeting on Tuesday. We had a great turnout with many new faces.

We voted in a new Council Executive:

Co-chairs: Aron Chaney and Michael Edmonds
Treasurer: Laura McKenzie
Secretary: Caitlin Cooke

Thank you to the new and returning executive team members for your commitment to Lakeview!

First Council meeting of the year is Tuesday, Sept. 10

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

First School Council Meeting

Our first School Council meeting of the year is Tuesday, September 10th, at 6:45 in the school library. These meetings are a place where Lakeview parents/guardians can find out what’s happening in the school, meet the Principal, ask questions, and raise topics for discussion.

Popcorn Coordinator Needed

If you’d like to get more involved, there are many volunteer opportunities. In particular, we are in need of a Popcorn Coordinator this year. The Popcorn Coordinator organizes the Kernels popcorn bags for each class on popcorn days and orders more when it’s needed. If you have any questions, please contact the Council Chair at chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

Hot Lunch Program

Already sick of making lunches? The Lunch Lady program begins on Thursday, Sept. 19th, and online ordering is open now. Pizza days will begin at the end of September. More info coming soon. Find out more about our Lunch Programs.

Mayfair was a great success! Thank you!

It was a beautiful, sunny day and everyone enjoyed the activities, food, and entertainment. And we raised over $6000 for Lakeview! These funds will go towards books for the library, outdoor equipment, and arts and sciences programs in the school.

We are very grateful to everyone who attended Mayfair as well as our many volunteers, donors and sponsors who made the day possible. Thank you for supporting Lakeview!

Enjoy these photos from the day (thanks to Bill Hodgins!):
