There is a $10 fee for non-newcomers age 16+ for ice fishing. This helps pay for the warm shack rentals, food, bait, equipment, holes, etc.
We get you all the equipment/bait you need. We even got the food and hot chocolate, access to wood stove heated shacks, and more all covered. The reason it is pretty much free is because my job involves simply helping newcomer integrate and meet some Canadians – increasing their social and professional connections.
Its on the Ottawa River (near Mason-Anger) – just a 25 minute drive from Crystal Beach.
This is probably the BEST thing you could possibly do on FAMILY Day. This is one of two weekends in the year that NO FISHING LICENCE is required (part of the Free Family Fishing Weekend).
