Mrs. Asma’s Grade 5-A class were the winners of the Kibera read-a-thon held May 5-9th. This read-a-thon was Lakeview’s final push to raise the $10,000 for the Kibera YMCA project, and WE DID IT!! Over the last 3 years Lakeview has raised a total of just over $10,000, which is being used to build a classroom in a primary school in Kibera, Kenya.
Lakeview students read a total of 667 hours! Mme Jairam’s grade 4 class created a chart (pictured here) showing the number of hours read by each class. With such amazing results, Lakeview School Council has kept its end of the agreement and has donated the final $1000 towards the conclusion of this global community project. And Class 5-A, having read the most, will receive a pizza party!

Thank you to all our Lakeview students and families for helping us reach this incredible goal and for helping to make a difference across the world! The final cheque presentation will be made to Mr. David Hall (Kibera coordinator) at the school.
