Popcorn Days are coming!

Kernels Extraordinary PopcornThe Council thanks Leah Edmonds for volunteering to take the lead for Popcorn Days! Term 1 Popcorn Days will be every other Friday starting October 25th and one bonus day on December 13th. See our Calendar for all dates.

The following individual bags of Kernels popcorn are available: Buttersalt, Caramel, White Cheddar, Salt & Vinegar, Dill Pickle, and Ketchup. Each bag is $2. All proceeds from this fundraiser to go towards programs at Lakeview.

Popcorn ordering for Term 1 is open now on HotLunches.net. If you have any questions, please email lakeviewhotlunches@gmail.com.

Pizza Day ordering is open!

Online ordering is open for Term 1 of the Pizza lunch program. The deadline for Term 1 (Oct. 9 – Dec. 11) is October 3rd. A flyer will be coming home soon, and further information on ordering can be found on the Lunch Programs page. Reminder: you must register at hotlunches.net (even if you were registered last year) before placing your order. The school code is: LVHL

Our lunch programs raise funds for projects to benefit Lakeview students. (They also give parents a break from making lunches!)

Please note that we are no longer using PayPal to process online payments. We now use a payment gateway called Bambora. There is no need to create an account with Bambora; it simply acts as a secure gateway for processing your credit card payment.

What about popcorn?? We are still in need of a popcorn coordinator. Unfortunately, we cannot offer the popcorn until this position is filled. Please consider spending 30 minutes every two weeks organizing the popcorn for each classroom. If you have time to offer, please contact lakeviewhotlunches@gmail.com.

What about pita days?? Due to low demand, we are no longer offering Pita Pit wraps as part of our Hot Lunches Program.

Co-lead needed for November Book Fair

We are hoping to put on another Scholastic Book Fair in November to raise funds to buy books for Lakeview’s classrooms and library.

However, we need help! We are looking for a volunteer to assist our Book Fair lead parent. Our lead is experienced with doing the fair but needs a co-lead to help get everything done.

The co-lead would:

  • help with logistics and planning over email
  • be at the school Wednesday, Nov. 13, to help set up
  • help with the sale on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 14 (during parent-teacher interviews)
  • help with the sale and tear down during the day on Friday, Nov. 15, (during parent-teacher interviews)
  • help with the accounting after the fair

We can’t run this fair without a co-lead! If you can help, please email chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

Volunteers needed for Pizza and Popcorn Days

In order to continue our Hot Lunches Program, we need volunteers who can give a little bit of their time a couple of times a month. This program raises funds for Lakeview School and gives parents a break from making lunches. Can you help?

Pizza Days

Volunteers are needed to distribute pizza on Wednesdays. Three to four people work together at the first lunch break to organize the slices for each classroom and hand them out. It takes about 30-45 minutes total (and extra slices go to volunteers!).

Grandparents are also welcome to volunteer!

The more volunteers we have, the less often each person has to come in. We hope to have a healthy list of volunteers to draw from. If you’d like to help, please contact the Pizza Coordinator at lakeviewpizzacoordinator@gmail.com.

Popcorn Days

Kernels Extraordinary PopcornWe are in need of a Popcorn Coordinator in order to have Popcorn Days this year. The Popcorn Coordinator organizes the Kernels popcorn bags for each class on popcorn days and orders more when it’s needed. Popcorn Days are every other Thursday. If you have any questions, please contact the Council Chair at chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

Mayfair was a great success! Thank you!

It was a beautiful, sunny day and everyone enjoyed the activities, food, and entertainment. And we raised over $6000 for Lakeview! These funds will go towards books for the library, outdoor equipment, and arts and sciences programs in the school.

We are very grateful to everyone who attended Mayfair as well as our many volunteers, donors and sponsors who made the day possible. Thank you for supporting Lakeview!

Enjoy these photos from the day (thanks to Bill Hodgins!):
