Update on Hot Lunches ordering

Given the closure of the school for the 2 weeks following March Break, we have made the following adjustments to the Hot Lunches programs:

  • The last pizza and popcorn days from Term 2, which were scheduled for March 25th and 27th, will be rescheduled to when school starts back up. We will update you with the exact dates when more information is available.
  • Ordering for Term 3 has been paused for now. Once we know when the school will re-open, we will re-start Hot Lunches ordering for the remainder of Term 3.
  • For those who have already placed their Term 3 orders, we will issue refunds once we know how many weeks of Term 3 remain.

New Hot Lunches Coordinator still needed

Our current Hot Lunches Coordinator is looking for a new volunteer to help out for the rest of the school year. This is a great opportunity for a parent who wants to help out outside of school hours. The Hot Lunches Program raises significant funds for Lakeview programs.

Can you spend a few hours each month helping with the following tasks?

  • Communicate and plan schedules with the popcorn coordinator and the pizza coordinator
  • Prepare handouts for parents at the start of each lunch term (templates provided)
  • Use the Hot Lunches website to setup schedules for each lunch term
  • Answer parent emails
  • Enter cash and cheque payments received
  • Provide statements to School Council’s Treasurer

Reduce waste with The Lunch Lady

The Lunch LadyIf you order food from The Lunch Lady, here are some ways that you can reduce waste:

  1. Please ask your child to bring home the food packaging rather than throwing it away at school. Much of it can be recycled at home.
  2. Does your child’s lunch sometimes come with plastic utensils that they don’t need? When you order your food, you can add the NFS (“NO FORKS OR SPOONS PLEASE”) option as an item on your order.
  3. If your child needs a fork or spoon for their lunch order, consider sending your own reusable utensils and adding the NFS option to your order.

Pizza Day ordering is open!

Online ordering is open for Term 1 of the Pizza lunch program. The deadline for Term 1 (Oct. 9 – Dec. 11) is October 3rd. A flyer will be coming home soon, and further information on ordering can be found on the Lunch Programs page. Reminder: you must register at hotlunches.net (even if you were registered last year) before placing your order. The school code is: LVHL

Our lunch programs raise funds for projects to benefit Lakeview students. (They also give parents a break from making lunches!)

Please note that we are no longer using PayPal to process online payments. We now use a payment gateway called Bambora. There is no need to create an account with Bambora; it simply acts as a secure gateway for processing your credit card payment.

What about popcorn?? We are still in need of a popcorn coordinator. Unfortunately, we cannot offer the popcorn until this position is filled. Please consider spending 30 minutes every two weeks organizing the popcorn for each classroom. If you have time to offer, please contact lakeviewhotlunches@gmail.com.

What about pita days?? Due to low demand, we are no longer offering Pita Pit wraps as part of our Hot Lunches Program.

Deadline extended for Hot Lunch orders

There’s still time to put in your pizza, pita, and popcorn orders for Term 3 (April 17 – June 26)! Because the flyers were only sent home this week, we are extending the order deadlines. The new deadlines are:

  • April 13th for pita orders
  • April 20th for pizza and popcorn orders
