NO BOOKS PLEASE

Please note: Books are not needed this year because a Scholastic Book Fair is replacing the book sale.

For more information on donations or to volunteer at Mayfair, please email chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success!

The Lakeview School Council hosted the Scholastic Book Fair last week. Sales were phenomenal, and we raised thousands of dollars that the school can use to buy much-needed English leveled readers for the classrooms.

Thank you to everyone who came out and purchased items. Thank you also to those who volunteered to help with planning, setup and sales. This money wouldn’t have been raised without you!

Volunteers needed for Welcome Night Dance

Our annual Lakeview Family Welcome Night dance is coming up on October 19th, but only if we have enough volunteers. This is a wonderful event where the school community can get together to celebrate the beginning of a new school year.

You will be receiving an email soon from Principal Capitani with information about how to sign up to volunteer. Please consider lending a hand. The event will only happen once all volunteers are confirmed. If you’d like to sign up now – thank you! – please email chair@lakeviewschoolcouncil.ca.

Help needed for fundraising events

VolunteerAre you looking for a way to get involved at Lakeview?

We are looking for a group of parents to help with fundraising events for Lakeview PS. In most cases these are events that have been done before and so resources and support are available for volunteers. This year we are looking to fundraise for classroom technology, sensory room items, and classroom leveled books.

If you can help, please email lakeviewpsfundraising@gmail.com.

Mayfair is this Saturday! Volunteers still needed!

Mayfair 2018 is almost here! It will be a great day for the community to come together, have some fun, and raise money for Lakeview programs (rain or shine).

VolunteerThank you to those who have signed up to volunteer! But we still need more help. For example, we need 4 more people to help with the Mini Fair Games (1-hour shifts). If we don’t have volunteers, this fun activity will be cancelled. Can you spare an hour? High School students are welcome to volunteer as well. SIGN UP HERE!

There are other ways you can help too, such as set-up on Friday night (free pizza!), so please take a look at the sign-up sheet.

All volunteers will receive a complimentary food ticket for our delicious BBQ!

Other Mayfair reminders:

  • Drop off your baked goods and plants for the Bake Sale and Plant Sale on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
  • Some of the roads around the school will be closed between 8:45 am and 9:45 am for the bike parade. Parking is available at Corkstown pool.

Books, toys, little things, and Barbie clothes needed

We are now collecting donations for our Mayfair Book & Toy Sale and Mason Jar Sale. Clean out those basements and help with these great fundraisers!

Book & Toy Sale

We need gently used books, DVDs, toys, puzzles, games, video games/gaming electronics and small entertainment electronics. All items must be clean and in working condition with all the pieces intact. Drop items off in the front entrance of the school from May 14th until May 25th. No Saturday drop-offs, please.

Mason Jar Sale

Bring in small items like: wrapped treats/goodies, small toys/cars/figurines, kids’ jewelry, Lego/building blocks, craft/art supplies – things that kids would like. Please put items in bags (no mason jars needed). Drop items off in the front entrance of the school from May 7th until May 21st.

Help Barbie with some clothes!

A large number of Barbie dolls were donated to us for our Mason Jars & Book/Toy Sale but unfortunately most didn’t have clothing included. If you have any to spare, please consider donating them. All barbie clothing can be dropped off at the front Mayfair table.

Thank you in advance for all your wonderful donations!

Bins, plastic baskets, paper box lids needed for Mayfair

We are getting organized for our Mayfair Book & Toy sale.

As we do every year, we are looking to borrow your:

  • plastic tubs/bins with lids to store/transport all our sale items
  • plastic baskets and various organization bins big enough to fit books of various sizes, small toys and so on, are also highly needed
  • also, anyone that has a workplace who orders those big boxes of copy paper – the cardboard lids for those boxes are very useful for keeping adults chapter books upright for display.

Please consider looking for some of those cardboard lids and pulling out any organization bins that you may have. The more we have, the easier it will be to keep our sorting station organized and enable the volunteers to easily move everything to the classroom on set-up night.

Drop off any of the above at the front of the school, near the drop-off table for mason jar items/book toy sale items.

Please be sure to label all your bins. After Mayfair, they will be left along the brick wall in the kinder wing for you to pick up.

Thank you for your help!
